Distinctive horse-chestnut trunks lead the eye towards spreading crowns filled with pale blue, lilac and cool white. The trees rise from a dense golden-green surface in which small human and animal figures almost merge with their surroundings. Overlapping areas of colour, abrasions and irregular paint marks build the composition. Golden tones contrast with the cool crowns and the visibly worked surface.
