Olza

A nocturnal landscape by the Olza shows dark silhouettes of trees, cool blues and diffused light. Trunks and bare branches create an irregular rhythm along the bank, partly obscuring the distance. Yellow and turquoise patches indicate lamplight reflected on the water as short, trembling streaks. Decisive contours, abrasions and overlapping traces of paint combine the night landscape with an almost abstract surface structure. ‘Olza’ depicts the river after dark, when artificial light transforms the landscape and reveals less obvious forms.
