Several boats moored by a quay fill the lower part of the composition. Small figures stand on the decks and shore beneath an intensely yellow sky crossed by bands of white and violet clouds. The contours of the boats, piers and waves are simplified and layered, creating a rhythmic arrangement of lines. A restricted palette of yellow, orange, violet and white gives the harbour scene a luminous, almost graphic character.
