Vegetable Wholesaler

An expansive scene shows the interior of a fruit and vegetable wholesaler filled with workers and customers. Customers lean over crates, select produce and place it in bags while workers replenish the stock. Rows of carrots, onions, celeriac, bananas and other vegetables form a dense, almost mosaic-like structure. Yellows, oranges, reds and greens are set against the cooler greys of the floor and surroundings. Strong contours, overlapping areas of colour and collage-like fragments reinforce the sense of movement and everyday bustle.
