We Are All Passers-By

A dense row of anonymous figures fills almost the entire composition. The elongated silhouettes, facing in different directions and positioned close together, are formed from newspaper fragments and freely drawn contours. Yellow and blue lines pull the figures out of the deep black ground, while dark drips and splashes of paint cut across their bodies, further erasing individual features.

Some figures carry luggage. The directions in which the silhouettes face and their close spacing create a sense of movement, waiting and a fleeting encounter.
